It was 1 year ago today that I started the Podcast University of Young Entrepreneurs. At that time I had no idea how to podcast. I didn’t understand garage band, had no idea what equipment I needed, and had never done a podcast show in my life, but I knew that I wanted to create a show so I could influence many people and build a following. I just jumped in and started.
Over time I started to see success and meet others who could help me in business. More opportunities came at me and my community started to grow. I was consistent and created a podcast and blog twice per week, every week. As my community got bigger, so did my opportunities. More opportunities presented themselves to me and I acted on them.
John Lee Dumas came on my podcast show and I ended up working with him to create one of the largest crowdfunding book launches in Kickstarter history. It propelled my business like a rocket.
During the podcasting process I realized that I wanted to create an event that would bring young entrepreneurs together from all across the world. I had never created an event but I knew that I wanted to create one. I reached out to past guests on my podcast show and other entrepreneurs and built a team of over a dozen in 6 weeks.
Fast-forward 6 months of hard work, consistency, and pure grind. We now have over 300 tickets sold from people traveling from 20 different states and 2 countries. We have national speakers from all over and just announced that Kevin Harrington the original shark from shark tank will be speaking and judging the elevator pitch competition. We plan to have 600-1000 people at event.
I managed to build a following and create a movement because I was consistent, I worked my ass off, and I went after the things I wanted. I took opportunities that came to me.
If you do that you can achieve anything over time. The possibilities are endless.
I hope to see you in Des Moines, IA April 22, and 23rd. Get your tickets at www.youngentrepreneurconvention.com.
I will see you there!
