Just 8 months ago I sat around a table with a bunch of entrepreneurs and we made the commitment that we were going to co-create a movement. It wasn’t about building a company or even trying to make a bunch of money, we just wanted to create an entrepreneurial movement for the world to see. We set out to do that and now 8 months later we are about to kick off Iowa’s largest Entrepreneurial event that will have 750-1,000 attendees. How did we do it? We worked as a team!
As a team we supplemented each other and all used our strengths to create something from nothing. There were many struggles in the process and obstacles that we faced. There were times that nothing could go right for us but these struggles made us stronger as a team and we learned many things along the way. When you have no track record of doing an event, it makes it hard to get sponsorship, attract speakers, and sell tickets. The first time around is always the hardest. Well that’s at least what I’ve been told. With our persistence we started to get traction and people started seeing our momentum build.
In the past 45 days we have seen a rollercoaster ride like never seen before. All the sudden everyone wanted to speak at our event, sponsors starting calling us, and tickets sales were skyrocketing. We started to see our hard work pay off. Now we are just days away from our event which kicks off this Friday at the Varied Industries Building. You can see the entire schedule of the 2-day event at www.youngentrepreneurconvention.com.
At the beginning people laughed at us when we said we were going to create a movement seen all across the country. We now have attendees coming from over 25 states and 4 countries. We will have Iowa’s largest Entrepreneurial event.
So what did we learn from all of this? LOTS…..
- If you work together as a team anything is possible
- You are going to have obstacles but if you keep pushing forward you will make the finish line
- When you work on something long enough, people will start to follow you and join your movement
- You will have haters and people that try to bring you down, but that’s OK, they fuel your drive to succeed even more
This has been a life experience that I will never forget and it will be the start of something this world has never seen before. I’m honored to be apart of this team, and can honestly say they have become family to me.
If you want something in life, go after it. Anything is possible. After all, we were able to create Iowa’s largest entrepreneurial event in just 8 months.
Join us on April 22nd and 23rd. Get your tickets today at www.YoungEntrepreneurConvention.com .
